Nooney Farm is KLT’s site for bringing the Seacoast community together through agricultural programs, outdoor recreation, sustainability education, workshops and events held on this unique property. It is a 30-acre parcel in the center of Kittery, across from the Shapleigh Middle School on Stevenson Road. Recently, KLT received the 2023 Business Friend of Education award from the Maine School Boards Association for its pioneering use of the farm and its giving gardens for hands-on education programs with the local schools. KLT’s staff and volunteers are making the vision of Nooney Farm a reality as an “outdoor community center” and a place where cutting-edge ecological and regenerative agriculture will bring people together for inspiration and education. Nooney Farm has 7 agricultural, 10 upland woods and 13 wetlands acres. It has an equipment, storage and multipurpose vegetable and flower processing barn, with an attached office for the farm manager, 4 greenhouses, irrigation systems and farm equipment. Kittery Land Trust also leases an office adjoining the property, which houses administration staff. Position Summary KLT is seeking an individual who has agricultural and property management experience and seeks to have a key role in the implementation of this exciting vision to direct and manage operations at Nooney Farm. The Farm Manager will oversee the crop planning, growing and harvesting of all farm products, organize and coordinate volunteers that contribute to the farm’s productivity and direct and assist in the implementation of programs, The successful candidate must possess experience and knowledge of farming, equipment operation and maintenance, a willingness to perform physical labor outdoors and working with volunteer outreach and coordination.
