Past and Present Farming Experience:

We have five children that we homeschool and have lived at different times on a homestead and off-grid. We have graduated three of our children and are continuing to homeschool our youngest two. We have done organic gardening, growing much of our own vegetables and herbs and have utilized preserving methods such as canning, dehydrating... We have raised chickens, turkeys, pigs, rabbits, goats, ducks, and bees. We also like to fish and have had our raised our own worms in the past. We are currently renting and unfortunately are not able to continue the lifestyle that we know and love. We are all about self-sufficiency and would love to farm again and provide our family and others with high quality, nutritional food, that we grow/raise ourselves utilizing sustainable methods. We love Maine and would truly love the opportunity to own a place where we can live on and work the land and stop throwing our money away by paying such high rent and not being able to have the lifestyle we know and love. Thank you!

Business Plan and/or future farming vision and goals:

We want to grow as much of our own food as possible to provide for our family as well as others. We plan on operating a CSA to earn money and would establish a farmstand also. As an aspiring herbalist, I would like a large herb garden to make tinctures, salves, and herbal teas. We also love to forage, so that would be another aspect of the farm that we would delve into, especially mushrooms. We have a plan to market our goods to local restaurants and eateries so they can provide farm fresh food to their customers. Selling at local farmers markets is also something that we would like to do. We know that we would like to raise chickens again, both for meat and eggs and we prefer free range, sustainable practices that are the best for the animals, the environment, and the people being nourished by the food we would provide. We love goats and would like to make goats milk soaps which would provide another avenue for income. Fruit trees and berries would also be planted and our children know and love this lifestyle and we would love for them to continue to learn this lifestyle of self-sufficiency.
