Past and Present Farming Experience:

I have been growing and running a farm business since 2009. I am focused on mixed organic vegetables for year round sale. Dig Deep serves Augusta, Skowhegan, and Islesboro farmer's markets; has a CSA; and produces specialty wholesale products for Crown of Maine, Daybreak Growers Alliance. I have been leasing land for the entirety of my career so that I do not go into too much debt, but I am interested in owning land/ leasing to own/ exploring a farm transfer. I have my own equipment: tractor, implements, shipping container for pea shoots and micro greens, wash station and market supplies. I do not have a greenhouse or walk-in cooler I would like to expand my business by working with a fiscal agent or starting an L3C to provide accessible gardens, vocational school based programs, and offering community workshops. Particularly in Augusta/Hallowell or possibly Skowhegan.

Business Plan and/or future farming vision and goals:

I do not have a written business plan, but I am happy to do so. My educational ideas for the farm would use piloting and a feasibility study. My goals for my farming future are to continue enjoying what I do, raise my daughter in a culture that I value; sustain my relationships to community. My vision includes having a working farm for food production that connects to community through farmer's markets, CSA, wholesale, and food access programming like work share, gardens for all bodies, social spaces without technology like woodland walks and community harvest mornings. I also envision school based programming.
