Seeker Details

Past and Present Farming Experience:

I was first introduced to farming when I was 7 or 8 years old. I would spend the summers over at the Graf's dairy farm in my hometown of Fayette. I enjoyed learning and caring for the cows, helping with the horse stable, and of course putting up the years hay. I worked for another hay and beef producer as hay help in the summers with my older sisters as well. I then worked for the Stevenson's Strawberries as a picker once my sister got her license, I learned a lot of different aspects of their strawberry operation and vegetable production and spent a great deal of time operating equipment. I've since been able to build up a hay production company in addition to working carpentry and pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering. I've been able to use my mechanical skills to keep and maintain older equipment and have worked to improve some older neglected fields around Fayette and Farmington areas. I currently live in Fayette renting a house and storing my hay in multiple locations. I've been able to develop my skills in mechanical repair from fixing/maintaining my hay equipment and have used that experience to start a mobile farm and industrial repair business. I'd like to combine the home base with my hay storage, home, and allow for other farm enterprises.

Business Plan and/or future farming vision and goals:

I enjoy the hay production enterprise. I believe the farm/industrial repair is lucrative and can assist with improving my equipment outside of typical avenues of purchasing expensive modern square bale handling equipment. I am willing to explore most any farming venture but see the ease into moving into a meat animal enterprise to combine with my hay production if a location would support.
