Emilie Morath, 20-40 acres, Sheep and vegetables +

My partner and I both have experience with household vegetable gardening, a small grove of pecan trees, muscadine vines, and flower planting! We also have experience with small-scale herb gardening. We are eager to learn! We both also have experience and passion with preserving and maintaining historic buildings, as well as standard building maintenance. Recently we completed a lambing school program hosted by the Wyoming Wool Growers Association, and hope to put our knowledge to use with a future small flock of sheep for wool production. We hope to use organic and environmentally sustainable practices in our future homestead. On one of our recent visits to New England we learned a lot about sugaring and are highly interested in trying our hand at it and gaining experience in that area.

Our visions include vegetable production, establishing or continuing an orchard for fruit and berry production, herb growing, potentially cut flower production, and establishing a small heard of sheep and a flock of ducks for wool and egg production respectively. Land that would give us the ability to own or establish a sugarbush would be a HUGE perk, as this is also a major interest of ours. I produce textiles and art, such as quilts and embroidery, that I plan to include in our sellable inventory. We are ready to put in the work to experiment and learn as much as we can. Proximity to water and land use for fish and game would be a major bonus- Elizabeth has ideas of starting guided fly fishing and sport shooting business.

We would be very happy to learn from someone with experience on the land we hope to care for. We have a good base of knowledge and are very hands on, energetic, fast learners! Having any kind of training or teaching would go far and be highly appreciated.
