Jack and Rachael have been together for over 10 years and have varied career experiences that make them uniquely qualified to own a working farm event venue. With their combined skills and knowledge, they have dreamed of owning their own property to build, manage, and grow.
Jack comes from generations of “green thumbs” and horticulture professionals. The satisfaction of growing and eating his own food is a cherished pastime. His passion for growing has now been developed into a rapidly successful career in agriculture. As a first-generation farmer, Jack has applied his business degree from URI and diverse life experiences to advance himself in the industry. He has come leaps and bounds from growing 2-dozen varieties of produce on his back porch to managing a 220 acre farm on Cape Cod. Previously he oversaw 50 acres of cultivation and a staff of 12, growing over 125 varieties of fruits and vegetables for Gopal Farm Cape Cod. Over the 3 years at Gopal Farm Cape Cod, he developed the once-abandoned property into a thriving vegetable farm: building infrastructure from scratch, developing local relationships, creating successful agritourism experiences, starting a local CSA, and establishing wholesale accounts with produce distributors, public schools, and local restaurants. Currently, Jack works as a Farmer at Pineland Farms in New Gloucester, ME.
On a smaller scale, Jack co-founded a specialty, gourmet farm with his father in Duxbury, MA. Jack managed the crops and Rachael managed the farm’s website and social media. As a family-operated farm, it was all hands on deck for operations and Jack and Rachael spent their weekends planting, pulling weeds, harvesting, and maintaining the property.
Holding a business degree with a minor in hospitality management, Rachael’s career has centered around the events industry. From weddings and social events, to large public events and corporate meetings, Rachael has worked with thousands of clients and vendors to execute successful events. As a past member of the ILEA Boston Chapter, Rachael is connected to the live events industry and stays up-to-date with current industry trends. Previously, Rachael oversaw an events team at a venue in Boston and managed the day-to-day operations of the facility. Today, Rachael works in corporate events as an Events Operations Manager for a global events team. She helps improve processes, works toward developing sustainability goals, and drives innovation.
In addition to farming, Jack also moonlights as a wedding entertainer. While Rachael’s event experience has been focused on the venue perspective working with clients, vendors, and managing the physical event venue property, Jack has experience on the vendor side. From performing hundreds of weddings at farm venues across New England, he has had an inside look at how many of the region’s most prestigious farms operate a successful event venue.
With over 20 years in the events industry combined, along with Jack’s passion and experience in operating a working farm, owning a farm event venue is a natural blend of both their skills and interests.
