Past and Present Farming Experience:

I grew up gardening with my family in the Northeast and worked at the Natick Organic Community Farm and The Farm School in Massachusetts when I was in high school. My interest in farming led me to pursue a degree in Agroecology at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, where I worked at the research farm and greenhouses. After taking time off to work a full season at Plenty Wild Farms (Pemberton, BC) I completed my degree in 2022 and moved back to Boston, where I worked seasonally for Allendale Farm until I moved to Maine to work for Johnny's Selected Seeds. I am now a full-time employee-owner, gathering skills and experience on the research farm where I specialize in crop care, IPM and seed production. In the winter I assist with seed-packing, shipping, and inventory replenishment. I garden at home, but as a renter dream of land I can steward long term.

Business Plan and/or future farming vision and goals:

In progress- I intend to focus on medicinal herbs and native perennials/orchard fruits&berries. I am interested in growing several specialty crops as well- ginger and turmeric in a high tunnel; mushrooms; and carrots, broccoli and garlic as row crops. I want to learn how to keep bees and use goats for land management (potentially renting them out, need to do more research here) but since it's beyond my current knowledge this would be further down the line. I am also unsure how much of my business would be raw goods vs finished product (e.g. loose herbs vs tea blends, berries vs jam etc), but I am open to the possibilities!
