Past and Present Farming Experience:

8+ years of commercial farming experience, primarily in annual vegetables, though some dairy experience as well. Currently working for Johnny's Selected Seeds as a variety trial manager for a set group of crops on the research farm.

Types Of Enterprises Considered:

Business Plan and/or future farming vision and goals:

My plan is to continue to work for Johnny's while also growing an organic vegetable seed crop on contract for Johnny's and Fedco. My primary income would be from Johnny's, while the wholesale seed production would provide me with an additional secondary income, and help those two companies fill gaps in their local seed supply. I am not sure if this program is set up for this sort of set-up, but I figured that I would reach out and see if you are interested. I have already been preapproved by my bank for a rural development loan for up to 225,000 dollars, and am searching for a farm property to purchase that has 5-10 acres of arable field, and more if available. My intention is to maintain organic certification for the property, and to steward the land sustainably. I am already a member of the farming community in the Waldo County, and would like to continue to live in the area, though am flexible.
