Past and Present Farming Experience:

We don’t have much experience in this specifically but we’re very capable and have been running businesses for other people our whole lives. I’m a gardener and my son has worked construction and landscaping. We’re very capable and realistic and want to slowly build an asset that can be kept in our family for a long time. We come from very little and want to leave behind more than we had.

Business Plan and/or future farming vision and goals:

Our operation will focus on cultivating mushrooms and microgreens using vertical farming techniques to maximize yields and efficiency. We aim to produce high-quality crops for local markets and retailers, including tinctures and other mushroom-based products. In addition to crop production, we will expand to include small-scale livestock such as goats and chickens for the production of eggs, milk, and cheese. Notably, we will not engage in the butchering of animals, adhering to ethical and sustainable farming practices. Additionally, we plan to acquire 1-2 alpacas for the production of wool. A key aspect of our business model involves innovation in sustainable materials. We are developing a plant-based leather alternative using mycelium from our mushroom production. This eco-friendly material will be used to create various products, including sustainable clothing and synthetic alternatives to rubber. Our focus is on contributing to local food systems and eco-conscious markets, with an emphasis on ethical farming and environmental sustainability.
