This is an opportunity for a farmer to have guaranteed long term access to pastures, woods and wild blueberries where they could realize their vision for a productive farm, without the stress of a mortgage and land ownership. We live here on the remnants of my family farm. It was a working dairy farm until 1940, and 16 acres of pasture were used for hay for other farmers' cows until the mid-1980s. Now we are keeping the fields open by bush hogging. 26 acre blueberry field was commercially maintained until 2014 or so. About 11 acres are currently harvestable and we have been pruning but no soil amendments or pesticides. We are looking for a long-term arrangement for a farmer to use our land in active agriculture. The monthly rental/lease would be $0 to the farmer for the use of the land, with the provision that IF they were sufficiently profitable enough we would like to cover the RE taxes (so the most we would expect about $2000 annually), and we are willing to sign a long-term lease, but we do not have any housing to offer, however - we would consider building a small, efficient house which could be reasonably rented until our farm partner finds permanent housing in our local area. We are committed to keeping the land organic, although certification as such isn't a requirement. We are very interested in agroforestry and silvopasture techniques, or other ideas that may encourage resiliency as our climate changes. We are already seeing our blueberries ripening almost a month earlier than when I was growing up here in the 1960s.
