Rote Farm is listed on the Nation Register of Historic Places. It is one of the fewremaining original farmsteads on the South Bristol peninsula. The owner liveson the property in the c. 1760 farmhouse with his family.

Thetillable acreage (~10 ac) is mostly adjacent to the farmhouse, to the S and SW.As a result, any potential lease/farming operation would need to be consistent with the owner’s interest in privacy and viewshed, as well as the health of humans and local ecology.

The farm, once primarily pasture land, is mostly wooded at this time. The open fields are in good soil profiles, although there are wet spots, and the soil isrocky. The property is offered for lease in the hope that a potential farmer would have or develop a farm plan that fits with the various idiosyncrasies ofthe property. For example, there is currently a lessee using a small amount of space for a flower operation, which operation fits within the parameters outlined above. There is other land available currently, and the flower operation is likely to move to a different site in the medium term. The barn onsite (a 62x42 timber frame c. 1815) would potentially be available for use, but would need some work. The owner would potentially be amenable to allowingtemporary housing (eg., a yurt or similar structure) on the property, if consistent with local regulations. In short, the owner welcomes creative proposals that put the land to a beneficial use, so long as that use doesn't unduly infringe on the owner's use and enjoyment of the property.
